• In 2006 there were nearly 44.2 Million Hispanics living in U.S., or about 14% of the total population.
• By 2020 the Hispanic population is expected to reach 70 million.

- Only 70% of all students in public high schools graduate.
- Only 32% of all students leave high school qualified to attend four-year colleges.
- Only 51% of all black students and 52% of all Hispanic students graduate.
- Only 20% of all black students and 16% of all Hispanic students leave high school college-ready.
- Graduation rates for:
- White students 72%;
- Asian students 79%;
- American Indian students 54%.
